Track and Field Camp

S2F Track and Field Camps are complete track and field camps designed to meet the needs of the individual camper. The camps are divided into event areas: Sprints, Hurdles, Jumps, Throws, and Pole Vault and Middle Distance. Campers can stay in one event area or move from area to area during the four- day camps. Coaches will work one- on- one with each camper to ensure a quality learning experience, using technical drills and running/form biomechanics feedback, to improve the camper’s knowledge and performance of their event area.

Sprints: Speed is a vital part of success in every sport. Athletes from every sport- football, baseball, softball, soccer, tennis and others- can attend our camps. During the two to four -day camp, participants will be instructed in; sprint mechanics, sprinting drills, block starts, relay exchanges, acceleration and speed maintenance. These skills benefit every athlete

Hurdles: Campers will learn proper hurdling techniques for both long and short hurdles. They will learn how to alternate lead legs to prevent loss of momentum during the hurdle race. Hurdle drills and excellent coaching will better prepare all campers for the next track and field season.

Jumps: Campers will have the opportunity to work with world- class coaches and athletes in the high jump, long and triple jump. The high jump approach will be broken down into simple learnable parts. Each phase of the triple jump will be covered in detail. The long jump will be covered from start to landing. Each part of the jump will be broken down to correct faults in the athlete's technique.

Throws: The throws will be covered in detail. Not only will campers learn how to throw with proper technique, they will learn how to train for the throws. The discus and the shot put will be covered in great depth. Campers will be introduced to both the hammer and the javelin during the four- day camp.

Pole Vault: The pole vault is increasing in popularity every year. However, there are few places where one can learn the proper way to perform the event. Qualified coaches will teach the vault. Each part of the vault will be covered in detail. Athletes are required to bring their poles.

Middle Distance: 800m to the mile are identified as the middle-distance events. These athletes require the speed of a sprinter and the endurance of a distance runner. Our coaches will work with campers to achieve improvements in both areas. Our coaches will also explain how to set up different race models, teaching campers how to utilize their individual strengths to their advantage.
